Lord Mayor Awards Nightingales Golden Care for Outstanding Service

It’s been a challenging year for all of those involved in the delivery of Health and Social Care. The coronavirus pandemic has required huge changes to the existing way of working.  Here at Nightingales Golden Care we have been celebrating the receipt of certificates of recognition, presented from the Lord Mayor on behalf of the people of Portsmouth, for Outstanding Service.

We have asked one of our longest working care staff to receive the award on behalf of all the fantastic members of staff who have worked so hard throughout the COVID-19 pandemic to keep the service running during difficult times:

In addition to their normal duties and responsibilities; staff have ensured isolated service users are kept in contact with their loved ones by arranging video calls and messages, by escorting them to hospital appointments to prevent shielding family members having to do so, by helping to organize and administer COVID tests, by taking over responsibilities for medication and/or shopping for those whose families can longer visit and by ensuring their isolated service users have enough

food and essentials to see them through lockdown. They have really gone above and beyond the call of duty.

In addition to this Nightingales Manager Ben Chudley has also received a Certificate of Recognition Coronavirus Award for his outstanding leadership and commitment to keeping the service running:

When Ben received news of the impending global pandemic, he made a clear and heartfelt decision to continue to place people over profit. Refusing to succumb to the enormous pressures to take on new care packages or untested hospital discharges and allowing existing clients to suspend non-essential visits without penalty charge, re-jigging rotas to protect higher risk staff members and clients, procuring PPE from far flung places (once driving nearly 50miles for 80mls of

hand gel, when stocks were critically low) and incurring great expense, with the absolute certainty that, although it might not make good business sense, it was the right thing to do.

Ben said “It’s really great to have everyone’s hard work recognized in this way, its been a hugely challenging period of time for our staff, our clients and their families and I have been so proud of the way in which everyone has worked so hard to keep each other safe.”
