We’ve been using the Birdie.Care App to give our clients real time information about the support we provide. It’s a digitalised version of the traditional paper notes that can be accessed via a mobile app and home care software. The COVID-19 pandemic has required everybody to change the ways in which they are working, here are few of the really great ways in which Birdie.Care are helping staff at Nightingales improve our service:
- Less time writing, more time for providing care – Our digital ‘to do list’ allows staff to tick off tasks as they go, speeding up reporting and making the most of the visit time available. It has a number of prompts encouraging staff to log additional information about the clients’ wellbeing that is insightful and allows us to tailor care to their specific needs.
- Birdie Care Circle – Birdie gives clients the option to invite their loved ones to view their care notes on the Birdie app. After each visit, loved ones will be able to view and read all the daily care notes that are submitted for the care recipient.
- Clear and legible – we have noticed that it is much easier to read the daily log entries as there is less interpretation of different handwriting styles. It’s also easier to see at a glance what tasks have been carried out, meaning important things don’t get missed.
- Real time notifications – Observations raised as alerts are shared with us instantly, which have allowed us to respond quickly to peoples changing needs as well as staff members concerns, such as potential coronavirus symptoms.
- EMAR – Electronic medication administration forms are in use for each of the service users who require support with medications. Which generate alerts if they do not receive their regularly scheduled medications, meaning any issues can be followed up in a timely fashion.
- Secure GPS check in and out – detailed reports log when visits start and finish, providing insight into visits which frequently over or under run.
- Photographic record keeping – Birdie allows users to upload photographs to the visit log with consent and we have already seen this has been put to excellent use. Photographs of things like shopping receipts or new medications are a quick and easy way to communicate complex information accurately.
- Stored safely – Birdie ensures client data is kept safe by storing information in a fully encrypted cloud-based server. Meaning client privacy and confidentiality are protected, and only the people who should see their records have access to them.
- Easy to use – the Birdie App has been designed to be simple to use, so that everyone can use it straight away, whether they are 10 years old or 80 years old.
