Live-In Care

We understand your situation

After being independent all their life, your loved one can no longer manage on their own like they used to. You worry about their safety when no one's around but with work and family life - as much as you want to, you just can’t be there 24 hours a day.

We're here to make things better

They need constant support to keep them safe, you've considered the possibility of nursing or residential care but you hate the thought of taking them away from their home comforts and routines. It's not an easy decision, but it’s got to the point where the level of care necessary to keep your loved one safe and happy is just too much.

Get back to being a family member again

We understand having to come to terms with this can be difficult. We’ve helped many families facing similar circumstances and we’ve found in the long run taking the brave step to reach out for help is the best thing you can do, especially for your loved one. It’s much safer, stress levels are reduced, and you can get back to being a family member and friend again, rather than being their carer.

Joan & Her Daughter Rachel

We recently supported Joan to safely return home after a stay in hospital following a fall. Her daughter, Rachel, was worried about Joan being discharged as she was becoming increasingly confused and had begun to wander outside of her house...

.

...Rachel knew her mum hated the idea of living in a nursing home.

So a live-in carer was the ideal solution as Rachel knew someone was there to look after her mum and keep her safe without taking her away from the family home.

Frank & His Son David

We recently supported Frank whose son David drops in on his dad regularly. We provided a live-in carer for Frank whilst David was away on holiday so he could enjoy his break without worrying that he would not be able to respond quickly if Frank...

.

...needed something whilst he was away. David told us that the birdie app allowed him to not worry as he could read about his father's day from his sun-lounger.

Jane & Her Mother & Father, Mary & Michael

We recently supported Jane's parents Michael & Mary. Jane's father Michael is usually the main carer for his wife Mary who has dementia. They live together in the family home that they have shared for many years. Although Jane recognised that...

.

...her father was struggling to meet his wife's increasing care needs, she did not wish to see them split up if one or both of them were to require residential care. We provided a live-in carer to help both Michael and Mary with their daily care needs to enable them to remain together in their home for as long as possible. Jane told us that having a live-in carer for both of her parents was cheaper than paying for one of them to go into residential care, and gave her the peace of mind that they could remain in their familiar surroundings, and would not have to be separated.

Our Story

Nightingales Golden Care is a small family run company providing Homecare in Portsmouth and the surrounding areas for nearly 20 years.

The team is immensely proud of the dedication shown by its valued staff members many of whom have celebrated ten or more years continuous service. It was founded by a nurse and has an enablement focus,
assisting clients to retain their independence and stay living in their own homes for as long as possible. Its goal is to communicate effectively with Health Professionals and avoid the need for unnecessary or unwanted admissions to hospital or residential care facilities.
